An i apologize for this... and if i wrote something offensive please quote it and i'll be ready to apologize pubblically... Exactly like now.
But you wrote to me things like you sent it me twice (not true) after you wrote i got it on techpower up (never i wrote this). so i started to think you want have fun of me... Anyway if i offended you someway please forgive me.

Please note this is a bios from a ES card and is used at a person's own risk.

I have an issue with my new Aspire 7738g and romless Ati Hd 6770m, this issue may be the same for my previous Aspire 5739g - I'm not going to check it because changing card in 7738g is terrible all laptop must be apart. The problem seems to appear only with windows Vista ( I have for 7738g COA number Vista home premium x32) but when I tried Windows 7 everything is fine. In Vista graphic card is VGA generic with yellow exclamation mark and gives error code 10 (windows was able to load driver but it encountered problem to start device) . I was trying update vista, uninstall driver, reinstall, check online for driver, in safe mode there is no exclamation mark but still can't load driver by adding driver manually, catalyst only want install ati manager and C++,.in safe mode catalyst cannot perform detection.
I didn't check if the same problem was with 5739g because it came with win7 and I didn't try vista on it.
If somebody know how to resolve this issue please help, or how to upgrade Aspire 7738g to win 7 on acer website.

The win7 upgrade went dead long ago, it's just time to move away from that OS really.

Did you try the enduro drivers?

Solved!! Thank you Meaker your advice hit the point. Enduro drivers detected ati card straight and installation went smooth like always. Next step will be quad core.
I'm going to stay with Vista I know that 7 would be better but I have number only for Vista. If I could I'd stay with XP but there is no DX10 support.

Hi Samyz! I used bios from the first page of this topic "HP Aerosmith Whistler". Sorry but I don't know how exactly back of my card looks like but it is common card of ebay, probably this:
    hd6770mback.JPG
On the bottom there are other all bios files I have:
Read the whole this topic because sometimes is not enough just to integrate video bios in phenix editor. Was enough for my aspire 5739g but in aspire 7738g I had to like Valuxin copy and paste in hex editor piece of bios.

hello, i also have bought a romless hd 4650 video card for my laptop (toshiba l500d-14x) and after black screen, i decided to mod the bios.... i'm halfway in the process and i'm stuck at the phoenix bios editor application. i only have the BIOS.ROM file and the HD4650.ROM, but no WPH! does anyone know how to convert the bios.rom to bios.wph? also, from what i read, I have to open BIOS.WPH with phoenix bios editor, then add oprom (hd4650.rom??) build bios and reflash? I'm new to this domain and I can't survive another month without a PC as i need it to my job... if anyone can help me mod the bios, i can upload original system bios and the video bios. thanks in advance

Could you flash your laptop BIOS with just an original ROM file? If so, you don't need WPH. Just open it in Phoenix BIOS Editor, change the name of your vBIOS rom, add (or change a useless with yours), build the ROM, and finally - flash it. This should work...

the thing is i could flash with ROM, which is a good thing... the bad thing is, now i cant get image with any video card. basically, what i did was to rename V96.ROM to OPROM07.ROM (i had OPROM01-06) add it at option rom, build the bios and flashed the thing. and now nothing shows up. what am i doing wrong? btw, i didn't have any errors after I finished building the rom. just when i opened the rom with the application, it showed something like "class H couldn't be read"or something like that (then i thought, i needed a wph file) I flashed the BIOS2.ROM with phoenix winphlash or something like that. it made a backup on my desktop but I don't know how to recover...

Okay. You need CRISDISK. Try to recover your BIOS with it (search for the "acer bios recovery"). Then, there is two ways:
    1. Replace any useless OPROM01-06 with yours and after building - flash it with PHLASH16 (only from DOS)
    2. Try to flash current modification with PHLASH16 (only from DOS)

ok, so by now i finished recovering (thank god!!). but i saw something like the need to modify in hex or something. i tried searching for mxm in 3650 (current video card) and found some thing like 4D 58 4D but can't find "mxm"in the 4650 bios... am i missing something? i'm afraid to rebrick my laptop :D

and how do i know which one is useless?

HEX modification only needed when you have WPH.
If you have a card with eeprom chip (non-romless card), you could replace one of the ATI oproms (00-03). Try to replace oprom02 with yours.

I don't want to be rude or something, I just want to make a suggestion. Please @valuxin, make a guide and edit your first post to include it. I have linked to this topic in 3 or 4 other topics, so it gets the attention it deserves. Now, instead of reading the entire topic for every bit of information, it would be much better if everything is in the first post. When you have time, consider making a summary and editing your first post. Thank you.

yes, i agree, this should be sticky and highlighted. if I'll make it possible to run on my toshiba l500d, your post could save many people's life, as I didn't find any bios modifiers on toshiba laptops :D anyway, I ordered the m25p10-a chip, just in case things go wrong. till then I'll mod the heck out my sbios

now i have another question: is it possible to extract the oprom01.rom from the BIOS of other laptops? the original video card in this L500D toshiba, was a romless ati 4570! which means, the vBios was integrated in sBios. then i had the idea of extracting (somehow, i don't know how) the oprom from the sBios of an toshiba A500 laptop (which had a romless at 4650). is there a tool for such thing? i don't see anywhere in Phoenix bios editor this option

Yes, you can! If the other laptop have Phoenix BIOS - just open it, navigate to the installation folder of the BIOS Editor, open the 'TEMP" and find the oprom file you need ;)

Really though at this point if you intend to game the m4000/7770m is the only real choice or if you have done the mxm-b mod the m6000/7870m due to the gigantic performance advantage given.

The main power I have on my HP 8760w with M6000. On Acer 7738 - there is no need to do this mod (also heatsink is too limited and QX9300 is a hot thing - the best variant to use mxm-a format) ;)

I can run a 7770m at 980/1475 and still want more shader power at 1080p with my x9100 at 3.3ghz. I have a bit of thermal headroom too. Activating shaders does very little to power.

I have but their current values for M4000 are way too overpriced - 200$+ with ~50$ shipping ofc not including customs and VAT. I guess Ill try getting 6770M i found on ebay and maybe in future ill get hold on M4000 with more acceptable price.

You have to understand BIOS programming principles, HEX and binarry math principles. Better ask valuxin to integrate vBIOS to sBIOS, if card will be ROMless.

Change the extension of *FD to *WPH and try to open..
Or try addind that fd file to crisis disk creator tool maybe it will generate the wph file.

So, read this. that is a guide, written by Valuxin, that describes vBIOS in sBIOS integration process.

    Here is vBIOS file.

    Hi again Man!

yeah, i founded these info before and vBIOS file too, but... i do not have any *.rom / *.wph files... only *.fd file. maybe you know how to open *.fd in PBE ?

p.s. will hd6770m(blue PCB from HP) work with acer 5935g ? on photo it's romeless version. if there only EEPROM chip missing, then maybe would be better to try to solder it ?

Download the bios from the link I`ve given you. If it is ROMless, integrate 6770M bios in sBIOS - it should work than.

Could you please tell me: why it's useless and risky ?

p.s. i'm really don't know yet how to integrate vBIOS in sBIOS of acer 5935g (*.fd bios file). BTW, can you please tell me the EEPROM chip id for 6770m? i can't see it on picture... PM25LD010 - for other cards. (AMD M5950 for example)

P.S. I apologize to everyone for my dumb questions...

I`ve pmed Valuxin, maybe he can help you with that. I`ve tryied to open your sBIOS with PBE and I`ve not managed to open it too.

About ROM Chip, this is PM25LD010. It is used for M5950, 6770M, 6970M. Here is a guide, that explaines solder process on the instance of HD4650.

thank you, Brother Slav! :) i think soldering process will be much better(of course if we have necessary(required) resistors on PCB... anyways, let's wait for an answer from Valuxin.

I don`t think, that you have necessary resistors on your PCB. Even if they are there, you probably will ought to change them to another with proper value.
