    is this normal? Core 2duo t9400 2.53ghz. BIOS 1.1 (1.07 originally)

I ran the cpu on high, and windows task manager does show two panes. in cpuz, it shows clock speed as 1500mhz, but it jumps to 2500 mhz when I do something process intensive.

also it is always at 17 degrees c, even when I ran the 3dmark cpu test.

The temperature is wrong. HWMonitor cannot access your CPU sensor. Is it a retail model or did you buy it from ebay?

    Use a program called RealTemp.

I bought it from a retail store in Hong Kong

I'll try that out and see if it works.

doesn't seam to be working in realtemp. the temp never changes, however it lists 2 cores.

    EDIT:
I restarted and now it shows two cores, but the temp still never changes in either program. but the temperature is different from the first time I ran? if I quit and start again it doesn't change either. Maybe if I restarted the computer the temperature would show different, but not update.

coretemp also doesn't update the temperatures. however it shows two cores. it might have updated when the computer went idle though, it shows a (?) question mark next to core #0 temp.

still has the problem, I even tried cooking the cpu with linpak.. and also rendering for 5 hours in 3dsmax. Heck, I tried real temp's sensor test and linpak at the same time. :|

So you got it from HK, Can you post your CPU-z screenshot? I want to see if its a ES chip (Engineering Sample) or a chip with a very low stepping. If it is then thats why theres no temperature reading

Theres a few people in the past with similar problems, try searching for what they came up with.

    Check for a newer BIOS.
