Hi everyone. I have my Travelmate 4150 for while now and I noticed the hard drive gets really hot. I came across some programs that detect hd temps (hddlife pro) and after an hr of use, it reaches around 55 degrees C. And the program says its overheating. I know that its too warm for itself. Even when idling, it reaches a high temperataure. Its a 60gb 4200 rpm hitachi drive. I bought a notebook cooler pad and it lowered the temp to about 50 degrees. Does anyone have this problem? Could it be the poor design of the notebook to dissipate heat from the HD? Thanks.

It is bad to have your HD that hot. 40-50 max is recommended. Especially for a 4300 RPM disk. Actually I am doing one survey about common failures in notebooks, and I have got some info from service centers here in Croatia - disk failure due to overheating is among the top ten service repairs. Loss of data included. I guess you can try some other disk if you have any, or coolerpad as an obligatory accessory.

And please add your line of experience. Thanks in advance.
