I have an ACER 5612z of about 3 years age with a good solid keyboard.

On looking to replace with a Windows 7 ACER I noted the latest keyboards are
very flimsy with a weak action and lots of models on display had one or more
    keys missing/dislodged.

The build quality looked very poor and prone to keys coming adrift/breaking free.

I also noticed other well known manufacturers fitted similar looking flimsy
    key arrangements.

Is this a sign of the times/cost cutting?

Anyone know of laptops with good durable keyboards?

If you set your own car on display , soon you will find the wheels missing/dislodged.
    Or all of it .

The laptop keys , was always made for light usage .
In the past, very OLD IBMs was made like armored tanks , but this days most laptops have same quality keyboards .

Alternatively you can use external , if you like to press the keys with extra passion. :D
