As the title says. I remember on vista I was playing dirt 2 for a while, and the main menu music sounded incredible. Awesome deep loud sound.

Now on win 7, It seems do dull and lifeless and low. I have the latest realtek HD drivers for the 5920g. Everything is on max. Played around with the settings.

The speakers are capable of so much more, need more power delivered to them, NOT just a higher equaliser setting. Its so annoying having the volume on 100% and not being able to hear much.

Does anyone know of a way or modified drivers that boost the sound up? Such a shame, you should be able to use the speakers to capacity. I.e the point at which they start to distort is where you stop. I need at least 200% volume to achieve this.

Also what 64 bit druvers from realtek offer the best quality sound? Has anyone exprimented with this? I id notice a difference between versions in the past on vista.

Go to sound->playback->speakers->properties->custom and check if the limited output is selected. I always use drivers from Realtek and never had any problems with them.

Anyway I dont have a problems with it, just not loud enough.

Does this model have the TUBA speaker. If so the latest realtek drivers are not going to see or feed it. Look under Control panel Sounds speakers levels for a slider marked Subwoofer. If there moving it up and down should affect the sound. If you don't have this slider reinstall the ACER factory driver and see if the slider /sound quality comes back.

I meant check to see if it's selected and uncheck it if it is.

Look under Mic settings under sounds.. When i installed Windows 7, It was set up to cut the sound by 80%(or 20%) if the mic picked up on something. I disabled it, and all was well..

hpdv cant see that 20% 80% your talking about.

I turned the equaliser up mnanually and turned of dolyby surround its ok now, but far from satisfying..

You can change the percent in the speaker mixer not the equalizer.

Just to make sure. right click on Sound icon in taskbar, Playback Devices, Communications. Just having the built in Mic even while not being used Windows still reduced the sound output. Default was Reduce the Volume of other sounds by 80%.
