Has anyone tried to run TWO external monitors on their Acer laptop?

Apparantly most laptops can't do this. But I've heard that the Acers with VGA + DVI can indeed run two external monitors at once.

    Has anyone tried it?

    yep.

it goes easier if you load the omega drivers. but i do it with the 5672 and it works great.

it is a great feature over other laptops that can't do it.

Thanks for the info PRH. I'll go get me an Acer then. The only thing I miss is that they don't have any 14" laptops with DVI outputs. But it's hard to get _everything_ one wishes for. I'll probably get the 15.4" 5685.

bugmenot9: No, not tri-screen. But any combination of two screens. Almost all other laptops can only do internal+VGA or internal+DVI. The Acer can do DVI+VGA as well. If you want to run three screens you need to get a PC-card graphics card (like the VTBook - www.villagetronic.com) or some other gadjet.

PRH: Can you tell me more about the omega drivers?

The Omega drivers aren't really necessary... I found that dhzer0point worked better. (they had the ATI CCC; Omega drivers use the very old control panel)

if you want dual monitors with a 14.1" laptop, you'll wanna get a laptop that supports a docking station that has VGA and DVI, like my HP nc6400 + its docking station.

Yea, the Omega's are not necessary. Many feel that they are better drivers. We have had situations of conflict with the ATI drivers, but it all depends on what you are doing.
