Hello, been a while since i posted but keep an eye on the forum which has helped me before but i cant find much on this topic.

I have 6920g T9300 model, vista 32 and after having some serious frame suspension problems in gtr evolution(not alone on this having read some other gaming sites) i decided to try updating the realtek sound driver from pre installed version to new 6.0.1.5943--file dloaded from their site was called vis_win7_R234,i went for the installer not the zip.

After finding a thread a few pages back now i found a user that was having problems switching between 5.1 and stereo after updating same driver i believe and Dark Silver said that his was working flawless so i went ahead and gave it a go,i ran ccleaner/uninstalled/reboot safe mode/ran driver sweeper/reboot/installed new one.

I can switch between stereo and 5.1 but now my volume is so much quieter at max and the quality of sound is awful as in very trebly, distorted and it has cracked and popped,i know there is a significant difference because the sample tracks preinstalled used to be very smooth and warm sounding,i was very impressed when i purchased it but not now.

Im wondering if anyone else has tried these and had to go back to the original driver or perhaps not being used to drive sweeper ive deleted more than i should have under the realtek heading during swap????(i analysed and deleted everything in there)

Sorry if ive waffled on but after this experience im even worried going back to the original incase im screwing it up.

    Appreciate your feedback thx

Still trying adjustments but i have found that i cant change any individual speaker through right clik volume/playback devices/speakers/properties/levels....its only the realtek HD audio slider at the top thats does overall main volume???

ive also done the config and selected 5.1 for the virtual surround i once had and when i click on individual speaker icons i have sound but much more quieter level on rears than i ever did before, sub non existent no vibration.

Acer E audio management as well as a new red speaker icon that has appeared on me task (realtek hd audio manager) let me change rock/pop etc presets but no way as quality as before,i know something has changed for the worse but dont know if its what i may of done or what i cant avoid with this driver.

PS after updating the sound under device manager the sound, video game controller that is listed is as i would expect is realtek high definition audio, but what is the High Definition Audio controller under SYSTEM DEVICES tab???
The driver is listed under properties as provided by microsoft 6.0.6002.18005 21/06/06...should this have changed during update??
Could someone with a 6920g please check their settings for me.

    thx
