I have an Aspire 8930 and when I connect an external headset I cannot record from it or listen on it.

In the control panel/sound, it shows the 'line in' as connected, and allows me to set it as default, but the 'level bar' is greyed out and when I test the mic only the built in mic shows any reponse.

In the Acer Audio manager the 'line-in' tab appears when I connect the headset, and disappears if I unplug it, but nothing appears if I plug in the earphone on its own.

    Anyone got any suggestions.
