    Hi guys,
I posted before when I decided to buy the Travelmate 8006 with centrino 2Ghz: http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6999.

Now I have a very annoying heating problem.. it started after less than a month of use, and then it got worse and worse.. The computer switched off by itself when reaching high temperatures and In the end I was not able to play any game for more than 30 mins. The temperatures of the laptop were reaching almost 90 C degrees! (consider water boils at 100 [:0]). (measured by SpeedFan utility).

I gave the laptop to Acer and they gave it back to me very quickly.. I thought "what a good service!".. but after a couple of months the problem started again!! all they did was cleaning the inside[ :(].

Now I am forced to give it back to them and suffer another week of no laptop(and no work..as I also work with it).. but this is better than having my left palm always very red because of the temperature(for normal use)! and not being able to play any game again.

I wanted to know what do u think I can do to solve this problem definitively as they will clean the inside again or something...but I am pretty sure the problem will be solved only for the short term. Any suggestions?? Now I always use the laptop with supports to improve cooling.. do u have more suggestions/best practise to minimize the problem?
On the legal side.. do I have to start a law suit or what to have a working laptop? I have the Acer Advantage cover for 3 years too..[B)]
And also I wanted to ask people with the same laptop if they had the same issue??
I was a big fan of Acer but after this experience I would not suggest this laptop and company.. I wish I spent some more for a more reliable laptop..

    any reply is welcome!

Depending on how handy you are, you can use something like Arctic Silver on the CPU to fan connection to help move heat through better. This has a good chance to help you, but also has the nasty side effect of ruining your warranty. My suggestion would be to call support and ask to talk to a manager. Explain your situation clearly and ask him for a better remedy. I'd give them one more chance, then demand a new machine. If they don't oblige, file a complaint with the BBB, who will certainly help you.

I have tried Artic silver once and it brough down the temparature around 5-7 degrees. I also used laptop stand (like podium) But again it waved off only around 5 degrees. So the only option left was to use RMclock and to bring down the clock so as to reduce the temparature.

I guess a better HSF is the best solution , But i didnt get one that fits in this model
