I purchased an Acer Aspire 1662 in September. As of January 10th, my computer will turn off (skipping the shutdown procedure) when there is a lot of CPU activity (Games, Multimedia). What do I do? The Laptop does NOT have a built in censor and so I am not 100% sure (only 98%) that the reason for power off is heat issues but all the fans sound like they are still working and im just hoping warranty will cover this and if they replace or fix the laptop this wont happen again.

    What do you guys suggest?

    Anyone else had this problem?

It does sound like a heat problem. If the heatsink is not making complete contact with the CPU, there may not be enough heat drawn away from the CPU, therefore causing the system to power off. Another possibility is that there's a short happening somewhere in the system when there's an increased CPU load.

Try running on battery only and AC only (no battery in slot), this will eliminate these 2 things as a possible cause. If it's not these 2, you might have to send it in for service.
