Past few days I got my 8600M GT 256MB DDR2 GPU overheated and it is broken now. Sigh!! The system was still bootable and I did even hear the login sound not until today when I just unplugged the HDD and GPU myself. When I put them back together, I won't boot as usual. It stops loading a while after I turned it on and stays freeze until I shut it off.
FYI, I removed the HDD to copy a backup of my content into another PC. While connecting to other PC, I did change some setting on the Ownership of some folder to get it accessible. As for the GPU, I just simply removed it to take a look myself and snap some photo of it, then inserted it back as before.
So, I wonder will these techies stuff I did awhile back could corrupted the bios that would make the system halted halfway. Any advice?
Additional information that I would like to share is that I have decided to replace my GPU with ATi Mobility Radeon HD3650 512MB DDR2 instead of the original and did learn the method to do so. Read on some info regarding flashing the GPU, but was not sure bout it. Further elaborating would be a great help. Thanks!
(What is on my mind: Do I flash a newly bought GPU by plugging it in my lappy and do the flashing step? wonder..)

No, just removing it shouldn't cause a screw up, I constantly remove and replace pieces in my laptop. Unless you bent a pin or something, it should work. You can't corrupt a BIOS by moving components.
As for flashing the GPU, you would plug it in first and then use a floppy or a USB stick to boot up and then flash it. It's should be unnecessary if its a HD3650. That card should run just fine if you have the right drivers. -
So, any idea why it get halted? Since I could not view anything on the screen, so I could not explain why and hope someone here has experienced in telling me the cause.
and why is HD3650 does not need to be flashed? I thought it should be preloaded with Acer vbios in order to get it work. -
As for why it's not working, no idea. Does it reach the Bios or Windows loading screen or does it stay black?
And for the flashing, it doesn't necessarily need it. I'm using an MSI vBIOS on my HD4760. -
I believe it stuck at the bios. Usually we could see those light blinking indicates that the system is running/loading, but in my case, once i click on the power button, it just turn on the fan the calm down without performing any loading at all. The fan is still running btw.

Okay, now I would like to try blind flash my bios. I have created the usb flash drive and would really like to know what are the files need to be included into the drive? I have even downloaded the latest version of bios (v1.3813).
Please let me know all the files. Another thing is that the .bat files, should I just edit it or instead I create a new one? (Since I use USB flash drive, it comes with autoexec.bat) -
well do u see hard disk blinking i men nay kind of activity there
might be that u did not re-fix it properly -
If the screen shows something besides a black or white screen, then you can assume that the GPU was plugged in correctly. If you can't go past the BIOS, then you might want to check and see if the HDD was connected correctly. Flashing stuff in general is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.

Would the startup be corrupted?
Is there a way to repair startup of my HDD in other PC? Since it won't boot so I assume it won't let me boot any of my drive too. Besides, I could not even see anything for now so it won't be any help by booting using a OS cd and repair startup on this pc. -
Sigh, it seems like I could not solve it anymore since I don't know how to start. Most probably I will just send it for repair through Acer Service Center. *Frustrate, now I could not upgrade the GPU to HD3650 anymore.
Do you think that my MB has broken as well? As you know, I have dissembled the HDD, but when I unplug it back, I forgot to remove the battery. So, would that be the cause? -
New update*
Today, I just removed the video card and turn on my lappy again. Finally, it works for god sake. Now, it is able to load into window however with white screen (light on) instead of black empty screen when the video card was plugged in. As a conclusion, my MB is working just fine (phew!!) and the problem lies with my GPU. Now, I'm able to get back on track to upgrade my GPU, oh yeah!!!
This problem solved!! THank god and thanks for all those who had help me with my troubleshooting!
Help!!! My 5920G could not even boot. :(
