I have just started looking at laptops and have found it slightly daunting so far. I know quite a bit about PC's in general, but there are so many notebooks to look at I am feeling a bit lost.
I have never bought a laptop before, and the only two I have used have become rather dated (450MHz Acer Travelmate and an old 200MHz IBM Thinkpad). I would like some advice on what the best model for me is.
I am a student at university and have a very good desktop computer that I am not looking to replace (Athlon 3200+, 1GB of RAM, NVidia 6600GT) but am looking for a bit of mobility in my computing life. I would not be looking to use my new purchase for any sort of gaming, the main activity I will be using it for will be playing poker on over the internet, other than that I may use it browsing the internet and occasionally playing DVD's.
One must on my list is wireless connectivity, this is the main reason I am buying a laptop. Battery life is not a major concern, but a reasonable time would be good. Screen resolution and size are quite important.
The specifications I have been looking at are around:
1.5GHz Centrino Processor
512MB RAM
60GB Hard Disk Drive
15.4" Screen Size (1280x Resolution)
DVD+-R Drive
If someone could throw some suggestions out (would be looking to spend about £600).
thanks, Ben

I'd recommend the Acer 1691WLMi - it's got a widescreen, centrino, and a nice X700 graphics card.
Happy buying!
