My Acer 5100 suddenly went into a hibernation mode yesterday, and I cannot get it out of it.
I have not been completely happy with the service I have gotten on my laptop from Acer. My local computer repair man told me that their was something wrong with the motherboard. Sometimes the screen starts to spin horizontally and the only way I can get it to stop is to shut the computer down. Acer has told me after having it 3 times , that there is nothing wrong with it.

other than the spinning sometimes, and now the hibernation mode my computer works okay. My computer has Windows XP.

Any advice on how to get to come back on out of hibernation?

This is a problem with the motherboard. Unfortuantley it is next to impossible to diagnose unless the fault actually happens in the repair center. One thing that you can do is to update the bios to the lates version found (link at end). If this does not fix the problem then I would send it back to the repair center with a detailed letter with the machine and pictures of the fault happening if possible. Another solution to get it out of hibernation is to take the battery out, ensure that it is not plugged in, and press the power button of 5 secs. This will drain any charge left and may cause it to boot again. Hope this helps
