So I’m playing Far Cry on my Acer Aspire 2023 and suddenly little red dots and lines start appearing. Never happened before. Return to desktop and they’re still there, when I drag a folder it leaves a red ‘residue’, smearing over the desktop. Anyone got any ideas – have I blown the video card or something? Tried to uninstall drivers, no difference...

I’m using Omega drivers and its an ATI Mobility 9700 128 MB.

    I’m worried.

Sounds like the card is overheating. How does/did it feel when you touched it? If it is an overheating problem, underclock your card and/or get better cooling. If it isn't an overheating problem, it is probably drivers so you could uninstall the Omegas and try the default Acer drivers again. Good luck and best wishes.

Thanks for your suggestion. The computer was hot, I must say. But I hadn’t over-tweaked unless those Omega drivers come over-tweaked? Anyway, it’s the morning now and the horizontal lines are still here – I’ll try the original drivers and see if it makes any difference, have a feeling it’s something to do with the LCD though...groan.
