    Hi,

I purchased an Acer Aspire 1674WLMi in February 2005. It has been working reat until recently.

Whenever I turn the laptop off, I have trouble switching it back on again unless I leave it for over an hour or more. When I push the power button just the fan kicks in but a lot quieter than usual and then the laptop powers down. If I keep on trying I eventually get it to come on, but can any one give me some advice as to what could be wrong.

    Thanks.

That's interesting. Try holding down the power button for 2 to 3 seconds when you turn it on. See if that does anything.

Also, try removing the battery after you shut it off and then put it back in, and see if the notebook powers on properly.

    Is the notebook fine otherwise?

I would say that because you are safely within your 1 year warranty get in contact with Acer and explain the problem to them and get them to sort the problem out! make use of the warranty! you are close to the end of your 12 months after that it's going to become "your" very expensive problem hope that might help.
