I have a new Acer 1414 wlci laptop. I was attempting the HDtune test as suggested in this forum, but I have received a Read Error 7 or 9 times which cause the test to abort. I have rebooted and defragged, but it does not seem to help. I have two days left to exchange the laptop where I purchased it if defective. Should I be concerned? Is the HDD going to go bad? Could a virus check or something be causing the read error, or is it a hardware problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The results for the 2 tests that did complete follow:

If you're getting read errors, it's a good possibility that the hdd is starting to go bad. You shouldn't be getting any kind of read errors on your HDD. I'd suggest getting the drive replaced/repaired. You may even want to consider buying a faster RPM drive to increase your overall performance of the system.
