Hello. Well, my son inadvertently dropped my Acer 3623 laptop a few weeks ago and since then the LCD has been flickering between a completely black screen and distorted image colors, mostly seen with extreme tilting (the laptop is out of warranty). Soon it was black screen all the time. I did my search and found the potential culprit being either a damaged LCD backlight or inverter. I purchased a new inverter but it did not fix the problem. In preparation for the installation of a newly purchased LCD screen, I unplugged the video cable of the old LCD screen but forgot to remove the power cord   . Well, now the laptop does not power up with neither the AC adapter nor the battery. The green light on the adapter dims out and flickers when the cord is inserted into the laptop. I guess I short circuited the laptop (I should not blame my son to be the only one who is reckless :D ). My questions are: How bad do you think this is? Is there a fix for it? Does this mean that I need a motherboard replacement or ditch the laptop? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
