Do you not have friends with computers? Someone else who has Vista that can make a copy of their disc? That would be the easiest and fastest way as long as you still had your activation code for Vista off the bottom of your laptop.

You should be able get xp drivers from here (select your model, then select the drivers you need):

    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook

There is nowhere to download vista from on the internet. The only way to install vista would be as paten says, see if a friend has vista disks.

These are the download links for the aspire 5100 wireless drivers, don't know what card you have so these are all of the wireless drivers listed on the ftp site:

    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebo...less_Atheros_V5.3.0.67_XP_XB63_XB62(WHQL).zip

    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebo...s Lan Driver 802bg Broadcom Ver.4.10.40.0.zip

    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5100/driver/802BG_Broadcom_4_100_15_7.zip

    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5100/driver/Atheros V4.2.2.21_Max.zip

Some of these may be the same (pretty certain they are), if your still having problems it's not a driver issue.

What you need to do is setup your wireless connection in xp using your security settings that are setup on the router.

Hopefully your wireless card is installed, so you should be seeing an icon like this in the bottom left hand toolbar:

double click on this, it will give you a list of wireless networks available, double click your network, then you should get a window like this:

You need to type in your password for your network then you should connect. Hopefully you should now be connected. If you cannot remeber your password then we need to do some things with your router.

I will get you connected lol!!!

Right, what you need to do is go into your router and setup wpa, wpa is more secure than wep, do you know how to do this, if not, what router do you have.

Setup your router to wpa-psk. Then try to connect to your network, xp should automatically detect the router settings. You should then only have to enter a password.
