I've been trying to decide on a laptop and from what i've read the travelMate 803 is a great machine, and the aspire 2023. But from having a look around the boards the 4501 seems to be the laptop of choice.

I cant decide, im leaning towards the TravelMate as i dont think i need all the bells and whistles of the aspire. What i need is a fast reliable machine, with good 3D capability.

    Can anyone advise?

Well, if good 3D capabilities is what you're looking for, I'd stick with the 4501 or 2023. The video card in the Travelmate 800 series is lacking. The ATI 9000 GPU uses shared video memory. This is not the best for 3D performance. The ATI 9700 GPU in the 4501 & 2023 is far superior to the 9000 GPU. Get more than what you need at the moment, in time, the system may matchup to your future needs or would you rather be spending to get a new notebook at that time. Like I usually say, pay now or "pay" later. [ ;)]

Thanks for that, I think im going to go the 4501. was originally going for the 2023 with the 128mb video card. But from what i've read the 128 card wont make that much of a difference, maybe with things like textures etc... but not overall performance.

Seems the 2023 has lots of additional multimedia features on it that i probably wouldnt use. Maybe aimed more at home user/desktop replacement market? And its that little bit heavier.

    Anyways Cheers
