Here I am with a fresh install of Vista Business on my 5920G. I've been able to get many things installed and running great, but I am having trouble finding the following on Acers website.

Web cam software. I have the driver, but no way to take video/pictures like I was before.

HD DVD drive software/drivers. I don't have an HD DVD right on hand this moment to test, but I remember reading a lot about the drivers, but for the life of me have not found them or past threads that I read.

Otherwise, I think I have everything else up and running properly, time will tell. :p

    Thankyou

Have you tried the manufacturer's website for webcam software?

Yeah. I downloaded the driver there, but there was no bundled software like there was with the audio driver. I know people here have successfully done this, so if they can provide a link or something to some of these, because I'm not finding them on acers site.

Acer Crystaleye web cam driver and app for 5920G:

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/data/7117/documents/CCD_Suyin_v.5.7.29.500-1.zip

If you have already installed the drivers, then just install the app.

You don't have a HD-DVD 5920G? If you did, then I'd ask if you wiped your recovery partition. If not, then reinstall Acer eRecovery:

    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5920/vista/Applications/Acer eRecovery 2.5.4012.zip

    Either:

Select the option to Burn Disc and use the option ""Create Driver and application back up disc" (it needs 2 cds).

Select Restore and "Reinstall applications/drivers". There should be a HD-DVD driver.

I don't know if by simply installing a HD-dvd the 5920g will recognize it, and windows then installs a default driver. The dvd driver on my 5920g is a microsoft one. The issues I have read on these forums about HD-dvd involved the software players (Acer Arcade etc)

    Hope some of this helps

    Thanks for webcam link.

I don't have the recovery or any acer stuff, besides the drivers I need. So you are suggesting that the assigned driver should be fine, and all I will need is software? In that case, does anyone know of a free media player with HDDVD support?

    Thanks for all the help.

Hrmmm. Acer Arcade/Play Movie will not install. An error comes up, but I can't make any sense of the error.

Any other free alternative to Play Movie?
