    Hi guys,

6 mths ago, I had experienced overheating problem while gaming on my 3yrs old Acer Aspire laptop(CPU set to Max speed). My laptop will just shut down/power cut off suddenly after sometime. After reading some articles about laptop overheating, I removed the heat sink and fan and cleaned it thoroughly. I also reapplied new thermal paste to the CPU.

    Everything worked well until recently.
The same thing happened again. <CPU set @ max speed during gaming, laptop power off suddenly after sometime>.
I did all the usual cleaning and reapplication of thermal paste to the CPU again but this time it doesn’t work. I also checked that if the fan is still working.

Thinking that it might be caused by overheating of GPU, hence I disassembled the whole lappie (3yr warranty just expired), located the GPU +heatsink & applied new thermal paste.
It doesn't work too. I even placed a laptop fan below the laptop but still doesnt help.

After sometime, i noticed that my laptop will power cut as long as my CPU setting is set @ Max & High.
If the CPU is set running @ Normal or Low speed, it will not power cut.

I’ve tried all there is to fix my lappie but to no avail.
    Can anyone help me?

    Here are my computer specs:
    >Intel Pentium M processor 760 (2.0 GHz, 533Mhz FSB 2MB L2 Cache
    >14.1" WXGA CrystalBrite TFT LCD
    >ATI Mobility Radeon X700 PCI Express/64 MB VRAM
    >80GB HDD (Upgraded to 250gig)
    >1GB DDR2 (Upgraded to 2 gig)
    >Running WinXP SP3

    Thanks in advance.
