I kind of suck at computers so I googled this forum.

I have an acer aspire one with no keyboard and the prongs to connect a new one broken off. It also had a virus or something that forced me to ctrl + alt + delete every time I booted it up to start it. To make a long story short, there's no way to get to the on-screen keyboard.

Anyway, I want to get some of my files from that computer on to a flash drive. I have another acer aspire one so I'm hoping to temporarily put the hard drive from the broken computer into this one and get the files out that way. And then, hopefully, immediately put the original hard drive back in.

    1. I don't even know how to do this. 2. I'm afraid of messing something up and then having no computer, lol.

Can anyone help me out in accomplishing my goal? What do I do? Is there a guide somewhere? Anything to watch out for? Thanks.

Take the old hard drive out of your old netbook. Get an external case to put it in and plug it into your USB port as an external drive. You will probably be able to DL what every you need. Once you have all of that off, you might want to reformat it to make sure you don't have any malware, etc infecting it.

Hmm.. so I bought one and plugged in my hard drive and it sounds like it's working when I plug the other end of the USB into my current computer. The fan is spinning and I hear computerish sounds coming from the drive. (Sounds like a computer starting up) Yet when I check under My Computer on my working computer there's no new drive popping up.

    Any ideas?

Use an USB hub with own power supply.
Also double-check if all connections are done properly.
