I have just taken over the use of a 2 y.o. Apspire 5103 WMLi from a family member who is sadly no longer with us. I got it about 3 weeks ago and was delighted to see that it had a couple of installed features that I understood from research that were not always installed.

One of these was the 'bluetooth' connectivity option. When the machine arrived with me it clearly displayed the Bluetooth Icon on the desktop and the hot key turned the feature on and off (the little blue light). When the blue light was lit there was NO MESSAGE that there was no device that is often mentioned on various sites.

This led me to believe that the function was indeed present.

I an attempt to explore the likely battery life with different settings I used the e power tab and turned off the functions that I thought I might not use immediately. These included Wired Lan, Firewire, and sadly Bluetooth.

I also set up an additional user to give my wife access to her own settings.

Now I find that I cannot re-instate the disable options as on the e power tab the Bluetooth option at the bottom with the other hardware has disappeared. I I log on as my wife and open the e power tab all the options are there but 'greyed out'.

I have looked for a bluetooth driver but can only find one for Vista and I am running XP pro.

I have also looked for the hardware list in the e-lock tab to check that the option is there BUT I HAVE NO E-LOCK tab.

Frustratingly it seems as thought the feature was there but now its gone .... PLease can anyone help....

    Regards,

    Tony

it is rare to actually have a 5100 with bluetooth. Yours most likely never had it. Look up the specifications of your exact model to confirm.
