Hello, I upgraded to Vista Ultimate SP1 (clean install) and downloaded all drivers from Acer Europe's website, and everything works fine.. except for the multimedia touch-keys panel to the right. Only Play/pause, stop, prev and next are backlit, but not the rec or the larger "Acer man" button. I checked Device Manager and everything is configured correctly. I tried under Keyboard and Launch Manager's driver is identified, but there's MS' own eHome drivers for the IR keyboards. I tried pointing the update driver wizard to Launch Manager's directory but it refused to update anything.

As a last ditch effort I tried Girder to capture the blue keys input to no avail. It seems the entire panel (minus the Acer man button, since pressing it launches the Media Centre app) isn't recognised by Vista. Is there anything to be done or should I revert the laptop to OEM status? Thanks for any help!

Edit - It seems installing Synaptics resolved this issue. but the rec key and the acer button are still not backlit. Any ideas?

For some reason the record and man light don't light up. Why acer have done this i've no idea, but there is a modded driver on the forum, this is the link, you can change the buttons and the record one lights up:

    This should help.

Many thanks! Another issue I've had is the extra heat the notebook is generating over the past few months. Win2003 SP2 was running on it without Robson drivers for several months but now with Vista SP1 and Robson installed I see no reason for all the excessive heat. Unless there's too much dust in ventilation which requires taking it apart to clean? I reckon warranty doesn't cover this bit.

Edit - I just realised Robson had nothing to do with CPU utilisation. Would reducing processor speed using Acer's utility get rid of the overheating problem?

Definatley worth giving it a clean where the dust is concerned. Where the vent is which expells the warm air may be blocked. It may also be worth trying undervolting your CPU. This doesn't affect the performance of your computer and can reduce heat in some laptops by a lot. Theres a real good topic here about undervolting, easy to use guide:

I'm not sure about the warranty being void if you clean it, i'm sure this would be allowed (but better to find out to be sure) as there may be times you need to clean out the vents etc. It's not to difficult to do on the 5920. Take off the cover on the bottom, then you have access to where you need to be.
