This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Help with external display on Aspire 1650 with x300

    i have tried to connect my monitor to my laptop but for the life of me cant set the resolution to 1280*1024 somehow the slider for the resolution has 1600*1200 as the next possible option (ie it seems to be locked to widescreen but the box for that in the ati tool is actually unticked)..
    i've tried doing it manually via properties/display settings and via the ati too but neither will do it.
    It's definately not the monitor because i've been running it at 1280*1024 for years with my desktop.

    any help would be much appreciated

    EDIT: after unsinstalling/ reinstalling a few different drivers it eventually worked
