I really really really need some assistance.... :(

I deleted Vista on my 5620 and installed XP Pro SP3. Now I have no audio and another issue in device manager.

I don't believe I installed the audio drivers first so perhaps that's my whole problem. Why do these drivers need to go in first? It took me quite a while just to get a wireless connection going, but that was another issue that I at least resolved.

Anyway, I've got everything to work except 2 things/drivers: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset family appears twice in device manager (display adapters) with yellow exclamation and there's nothing I have done that will make this go away (is this really still a problem as my video seems ok?), and I've got 'Audio device on high definition audio bus' with a yellow exclamation so no adio at all. Again, no matter what I try to do to install audio I cannot.

I'm thinking I need to try the SP install over again. I have the laptop's driver and application backup cd so how exactly do I use the CD once I've gotten a clean install of SP?

I really want to know. Any help is appreciated (really).

    Thanks!
    Walter

You have to go to Acers website and download the windows xp video drivers, and the sound drivers. Do not reinstall windows.
Do you know how to do that?
The reason the ! shows up 2 times in device manager in video is you have one display on the lcd screen and an optional output on the rear for a second monitor.

    That is one opinion,
A frustrated vista user might say something different. :)

Not really; I made the Acer app and driver backup CD before installing XP. This would have all necessary Vista and XP drivers (so I'm told).
I loaded the driver cd after XP booted and tried to install from there but to no avail. The audio driver failed to install. Although the video driver said it was installed there still remains 2 yellow exclamation points in device manager. When the cd approach did not work I went to Acer's web site for the same drivers with the same results.
I even went to Microsoft's website who had some KB articles on the driver.

Another post on this forum seems to indicate that once you install XP the first driver that needs to be installed is the audio driver. If you do not do that driver first then you would not be able to install it after installing any other drivers. I have no idea why this would be the case.
