I bought an Acer Aspire 6920 yesterday and its really cool; stats can be found here http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=77,78,79,4196&webid=752554&affixedcode=WW however i have a few problems with it.
the first problem is there are little red letters beside some of the keys on the keyboard. now my keyboard is using these letters for some reason, overtaking the white letters. E.g. the key to make a slanted line produces é and when i want to produce the at symbol for emails it comes up as ". i cant figure out how to turn off the red keys so that i can only use my keyboard like a normal keyboard.
hmm the keyboard is normla now, i can use all the keys like a normal character, though i did nothing to change anything so it must have changed it itself... how lol?
the other thing is with my headphones on (ipod headphones) all my music sounds kind of echoy, like they dont sound like they should. i think the reason for this is because the speakers have surround sound resulting in this kind of sound. any way to do something about itÉ (that É is supposed to be a question mark by the way, stupid red keys).
other than that im loving this laptop.

1. Is there a Num lock key that when you turn it on it causes the keys with the red letters to use the red letters? I know it works that way if you have keys that have numbers on them (for small keyboards).
2. There is probably an option in your sound options to turn Dolby virtual surround sound on or off. Right click on the speaker icon, select Playback Devices, open up the properties page of "Speakers" and see if there is an option to turn off virtual surround sound. Also make sure that the last tab in that dialog window has the sound card set to 2CH, 24bit audio.

i'm guessing you have the wrong keyboard settings (i.e Us settings for a Uk Keyboard), this happened when i installed xp on my 5315 the first time, I cant remember how to change it apart from when you install the OS though...

it's a language setting.... HOGGIE is the master of this little problem...
duks is probably correct... -
Thanks for the help Jstn7477, I was able to resolve the echo sound in my headphones. I had to turn off "Dolby Headphone" and for some reason the bass was set higher than it should have been.
As for the keyboard, I think it's just a multilingual keyboard for English and French, seeing as to how I'm in Canada. I still can't find a button that enables it though... -
um... there should be a keyboard icon on ur taskbar
make sure US is selected and not Canadian French or Canadian Multilingual -

Now thank the people that helped solving your problem by Repping them.
It's so easy and it costs you nothing.
Unless you are a selfish *******......that just takes and takes..
And gives nothing back
Cheers,
