This is a brand new, just out of the box, laptop. Is it possible to do a clean install from the hidden partition?

But most important. I want to make a backup of the Out-of-the box state. Then I want to make another type of backup so that I can selectively uninstall items and selectively bring them back from the backup if I need them. How would I do that?

I want to get rid of:
    1) All games
    2) McAfee
    3) MS Office Trial
    4) MS Works
    5) Welcome center - unless this si somehow needed.
    6) Movie Maker
    7) Windows Photo Gallery
    8) Extras and Upgrades
    9) Windows DVD maker
    10) Windows Movie Maker
    11) Live Messenger Download.
    12) Windows Meeting Space
    13) Windows Sidebar
    14) Table PC

Please let me know what I should keep and why.

do you need more room on your hard drive or you just hate junkware ?

    first off burn recovery dvd's
and then just make sure all the stuff listed above is not using any resources.
if not don't worry,if they are just disable them in services.

then spend some time reading blackvipers web site.you may find some intresting and tested speed up tools/actions on his site

PS most of the list can just be switched off,but on some laptops you will need a tool (download from net) to remove McAfee

Hmmm, this laptop only has Home Basic. Maybe I won't have to remove as much.

I'm tired of the junkware. I want to stop having to scroll through the list of programs with stuff I hardly use.

I want as much space as I can get because I'll be putting alot of software that I need for software development onto the laptop. I'll be making the C Drive bigger anyway.

i do lots of AUTO CAD work..but i never leave it on my laptop....i have a nice hard drive in a caddie that is usb powerd.its just safer and can be used on any pc laptop :D

i also have a new laptop5735z and after a quick viset to blackviper.com. all is running great.
also removed all the microsoft trials and McAfee.
what a difference removing all that makes :D

PS i also have a shortcut folder on desktop with most used prog's in that.

windows sidebar is a pain in the backside remove it as it checks for updates constently.remove it.

also check in remove programes and you will see a long list of trials that need removing ASAP

I have a large desktop that I sync my D drive with. But the space on the C drive is needed for tools that need to be installed and left there.

But thanks for the help with the uninstallables. Getting advice about that makes a huge difference. Is there software that will uninstall things faster that the Add/Remove programs?
