My sister has a Acer Aspire (cant remember the model), she has vista home premium on it but wants to go back to xp as she hates vista, my question is how do you creat a vista restore cd/dvd as noing her luck something might go wrong when installing XP, if this does happen it would be good to have Vista so she can re-install it.

    Thank You.

press the GREEN e button... it should bring up the acer Empowering Tech application....

move your mouse over the ICONs that appear, one of them is the E-RECOVERY application... run it!!!

there are different versions of this software, so it's hard to know which you have... but it should be pretty self explainatory... on the off chance you have the same version that was installed on my lappy, if you can't figure out how get to the BURN FACTORY RESTORE DISKs option,, you may have to click the MIDDLE BUTTON at the bottom of the main window, it's label says BURN DISCs.

make sure to make the 2 recovery DVDs and then make the DRIVERS & APPLICATIONS dvd just incase you need it!!!

i hope you have a DVD burner for creating the disks.... i actually made the CD backup set, i think i burned a total of 15 cd!

Hi when i used epower to create a restore factory disk it only required me to have/use 1 DVD or 7 cd-r disks instead of 2 dvds is this right, could acer just have compressed the information so it fits on one dvd-r.

    Please reply. thanks.

that is strange, most VISTA recovery partitions are about 10gig in size.... as i reacall the last recovery dvds i made consisted of a second DVD that had about 2gigs of data on it..

if your revocery is only making 1 DVD and it verifys the disk is correct then reports that it is totally done,,,,, i'm not sure..... if you want to be sure there is only one disk for that system to do a FULL FACTROY IMAGE,,, you can always try calling ACER.

i guess they could have changed the way they make the image and it could be compressed,,, i'm just used to systems that make 2 disks for a factory restore...

be sure to also burn that DRIVERS & APPLICATIONS dvd (or 3 cds.... that' s what it required for my backup anyway.

if still using VISTA, first make sure LAUNCH MANAGER IS RUNNING then try the button again... if nothing happens..

you may have to reload the EMPOWERING TECH FRAME WORK and the EMPOWERING TECH APPLICATIONS

if you are running XP you may find old XP versions of the EMPOWERING SOFTWARE from some other older model that might work on the 6920, but i've not heard of anyone even trying...

    good luck
