Hi all again!
I have read in other threads that different brands of notebook have also encountered high pitch sounds due to the Intel Centrino hardware in them.
I was just wondering if anyone with an Acer Aspire 1690 series notebook in particular has ever encountered this high pitch noise whenever windows is loaded (with the ac adapter plugged in), and whether anyone has managed to sort it.
My notebook does seem to produce this kind of noise and only by decreasing the cpu speed using Acers epower manager does the sound decrease, but it is only slight and the noise can still be irritating in a quiet environment. Also Ive noticed that whenever the hard drive is being accessed the sound disappears.
Has anyone with an Acer notebook with this problem ever contacted Acer about this and receive some sort of solution?
Thank for any thoughts!

I have the 1691WLMi and have not had any issues so far, only thing I noticed once, was a continual ticking from the hard-drive, but only when the screen saver came active, disabling the screen saver solved it... strange..

I have the 1694 , i don't really get many noises from my laptop. The only thing i notice is the dvd drive gets loud when its reading cds on occassion (old cd) , and when playing games the fan would get really loud.
The hard drive is pretty quiet for mine, nothing out of the ordinary. -
I have a 2003lmi and i notice that sound a lot. And also mine is quite when i access the harddrive, is there a way to fix this?

Do you have any idea as to what the sound is coming from inside the laptop? Does it also happen when the computer is unplugged?
As to the hard drive question, that cannot be fixed. It is due to the hard drive itself. Sounds like you have a Toshiba hard drive, those are particularly loud. If you want a really well-made hard drive, go for a Western Digital.
