    Hi

Two weeks ago i bought the 5920. I remember that the first time i openend the laptop, i had to open it with two hands cos the hinges were very strong and sturdy.

Today, two weeks later, i can almost open it with one finger.

are the hinges wearing out? by this rule, in one month the hinges wont be able to sustain the screeen??

    thanks a lot

Well after some time the hinges might be a bit lighter to open, but if the difference is noticeable after two weeks it will be a problem in some time

Your hinges are fine. My Acer Aspire is almost a year old. No problems.

I have been playing with many laptops for a loooong time. Normal hinges in proper working order GRADUALLY wear out. I have never felt hinges be tough to open one week and then next be super easy. Most generally feel the same one day one up until the hinges fail years down the road.

If the hinges are really bad, then you should get Acer to repair the issue. It could be the hinges are genuinly faulty, which would require regular tightening that would be quite an inconvenience.

Thats quite normal. Are you sure the hinges are loose? I remember that when I first used my notebook, I also felt the hinges were tight, and after a few days of use, they felt somewhat loose. I figured it was probably because I got used to the tightness.

No problem here. I've been using my 5920G for over a month while closing and opening the lid several times per day.

I Have my 5920 for 2 weeks now, and I must say, my hinges are still as tight as they were when I first opened the lid. I still have to hold the laptop with my other hand when I open it.

Had my laptop since June 3rd June, and the hinges have losened slightly when the monitor is at a certain angle (A good thing!).

I still need two hands to open the laptop, but when closing the laptop lid; at about 45 degrees, there is less resistance. The closing motion is smoother. Opening the screen is still as sturdy as when I first got the laptop.
