I found a screen shot I took before I upgraded my HD on my Acer Aspire 3680. I upgraded to a Hitachi 7k200 100gb 7200rpm drive w/16mb cache. I forgot I even ran a HD benchmark test on it (duh!), so I downloaded the program and performed another scan. Can somebody please explain to me what it means?

it's kind of hard to read but the 7k200 is faster all the way across. Access time is faster (lower is better), and transfer rate is higher (min/max/avg). Notwithstanding the one major dip on the WD, it still has a lower minimum transfer speed than the Hitachi. Results are not really all that surprising considering you are comparing a 5400rpm drive that does not have a high areal density to a 7200rpm drive.
The only place the WD wins is in burst speed (pretty negligible) and cpu usage (also negligible). -
Thanks Goofball for clarifying that for me. I wasnt sure what the number (or graph) meant. I notice that the whole laptop runs cooler also (strange for a 7200rpm) but I just replaced the Celeron processor with core 2 duo also. Man, what a difference the HD made alone... great upgrade.
