I have had laptops before (Toshiba and Compaq) and both had ways to check for driver updates specific to that laptop. How does Acer do this? I've checked the help menu and it's just the basic Windows XP help file.

    Thanks!

You can download any updates from Acer Support . Enter your model number and it should show all the drivers and updates available. AFAIK Acer do not have any automated system of delivering updates, you will have to manually look it up at their website.

In my experience Acer don't update their drivers except in extreme circumstances. The Aspire 1360 range hasn't had updates since 2004 when they were released !! (except a recent bios update for a minor issue). In fact some models were released months after those drivers were posted.

In general though most driver updates you can get through either Windows Update (if it's a Microsoft certified driver) or direct from the manufacturer of the component. Sometimes tricky with graphics cards though if Acer have OEM'd the driver.
