I own an Acer TravelMate 8204. Up until an hour ago, it had an annoying noise problem with the LCD. Images displayed on on its screen were covered in what appeared to be minuscule white specks. The specks were particulary apparent during dark scenes such as those in a DVD movie. The problem was very annoying and has been discussed here in the forums (I couldn't find the link to the thread though). I decided to do my best to get rid of the noise and lo and behold I was successful. Here are the steps I took. Hopefully they will be able to help those who are in my previous position.

    1. Download the latest Catalyst Mobile Drivers. The link can be found here.
    2. Download Driver Cleaner Professional from this site.
    3. Install Driver Cleaner.
    4. Open the Driver Cleaner's ReadMe file and follow the instructions to remove the ATI driver. The ReadMe file can be found in the program's Help section or in the program's Start Menu folder. (I used both the ATI option and the ATI CCC option to clean the system.)
    5. Once the driver has been cleaned from the system install the new ATI driver. I opted not to install Catalyst Control Center. I dont know if this contributed to my problem being solved or not. I didn't install it because I don't particularly care for it.
    6. Reboot. Hopefully your noise problems have been solved.
