Hi guys! I have an acer aspire 4715z. it's running on vista.

i was just wondering if anyone knew how to turn off the touch pad? I'm using a mouse so i don't really need it now. It's just annoying coz every time i type, my palm would accidentally hit it and the pointer will fly across the monitor or highlight some words.

i looked at the control panel, mouse, hardware, properties, you can't disable. i don't want to uninstall it either. does anyone have any ideas on what i could do??

go ahead and uninstall it... every time you restart it will automatically re-add itself painlessly, but for the mean time it should be out of your hair.

i think you press Fn and F7 together and the same to turn it back on
though i use a combination of mouse and touch pad so can't think why you need it off both work all at the same time anyway

yea Fn+F7 turns it on and off.
the picture on it should have a finger pointing to a square or something.

if you have a usb mouse the touch pad can be set to switch off as soon as you plug in your mouse and switch on again as soon as you unplug the mouse.

you find it by right click icon in system tray>device settings>and check the box marked Disable internal pointing device when external usb pointing device is attached
    how easy is that :D
    post back if ok

    all the best Phil
