I have been to Best Buy a couple of times, and they always have Acers on sale!
The keyboard seems a little strange, but not something that isn't hard to get used to.
How are they? I went to the website, but couldn't really figure out what all the numbers were for.
I am looking for the thin and light option, so what are the prices for them? How are they? And does BB have a good deal on any?
I am looking for a 2 Ghz processor, 1 gig of ram, X3100 at the least, and a 120gig hard drive.

my sister's acer is pretty nice, but nothing special. The actual body seams cheap (its a $450 lappy from Best Buy) and its just plastic. Also, its just alot of bloat ware also. Also, her screen cracked for no apperant reason. I suggest looking into Gateway computers, which is what i got from Best Buy on the same day, because they are cheap, IMO have good construction, and don't have much crap ware (at least mine and a friends didn't)

I have 2 Acer's, and am pretty satisified with them. The construction is plastic but I don't abuse them and I am probably more careful than perhaps the average BB shopper? In any case, knock on wood, the only bad thing I have had happen is a pixel that is stuck but it isn't visible on white/grey screens like Internet browsing.

When considering acer if you are really concerned about quality then usually the travelmates are of better build quality than the aspire line.
The aspire is more for the everyday user/home user while the travelmate is designed for business, therefore they are built more sturdy.
As for the bloatware acer is one of the only companies which doesn't install any bloatware onto their systems. The only programs that come with acer that are a little annoying are the empowering utilities which is acer's power management and backup software, this is easily removed. Other than that you won't get any trial nonsense like you will find on other notebooks, only fully functional OEM DVD burning software as well as powerDVD. The norton antivirus 3 month trial comes on a separate disc and not loaded onto the notebook so you can decide if you want it or not.
I have 2 acers (travelmate and aspire) none of them have given me any trouble what so ever (knock on wood)
Look around in bestbuy or even circuitcity and see what they have with the specs you want. -
Well, the reason why I ask is because they sell them for $500 at Best Buy, and then I also hear that an Acer is now one of the best gaming notebooks?

The most powerful gaming laptop by Acer currently (I think) is the 5920G with 8600gt ddr2, which is WEAK compare to other beasties. However, 5920G a decent notebook.
Anyway, you're probably not going to get a good gaming notebook in the thin and light category.
You should post your question in "what to buy" section.
By the way, not bloatware on mine except Norton. Maybe Acer only put bloatwares in cheap bestbuy models?
How are Acers? Looking for something light. BB deals?
