    I have Acer TravelMate 2493NWLCi.

Is there anyway that make me disable the laptop's speaker, while still maintain the sound like using the headphones ? Just deactivating the speakers not the sound system.

    Thanx in advance...

When you plug in earphones, the speakers should automatically mute...doesn't it already? I don't have an Acer, so I don't have first hand experience, but all other computers I know of do this.

Yes this is right... Now my question is: is there anyway to still mute after plugging out the headphones ? Like to disable the sound from the system with or without the headphones...

There should a Volume Control on the Desktop Tray of the Taskbar, its an icon that looks like a speaker. Open it and just check off Mute.

Ok... Here is the deal... I listen to music at night using my headphone... Sometimes by mistake I pull the headphone's cable and the sound (which is usually loud) goes throught the speakers.. How to disable the speakers ? This is my question...

Oh, I see. Well, I don't have anything for you then, as I don't have an Acer nor do I use Windows much anymore (see my Mac? ;)). Good luck with your search for the right answer! :)

Go to your volume control, click on Options, and make sure "Advanced Controls" is checked. Then click on "Advanced" in the lower left hand corner. Then, under "Other Controls", check the "PC Spk Mute" option.

I don't know then, it's possible your computer doesn't allow direct controlling of the system speakers.

That will also turn down the volume on the headphones, I believe. He want's the physical speakers disabled so that if the headphones are unplugged, it won't automatically start playing through the speakers. It's perfectly possible on my Dell, following the instructions I gave above, but for some reason he doesn't seem to have any advanced volume controls.

On my computer, Vista automatically manages the sound and separates the volume of the headphones and the volume of the speakers. For example, when I plug in headphones, the volume drops to 20, when I pull them out, it automatically goes to 30.
