I sent them an e-mail with a scan or my proof of purchase, I got an e-mail only saying this from them...
Thank you for contacting the Upgrade Redemption Center for Microsoft Windows
Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.
Your email has been received, and will usually be processed within 1 business
day.
The following is provided for your information:
To place an order, obtain manufacturer-specific pricing, or see if you are
qualified to purchase an upgrade, please visit
https://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/vista/default.aspx.
If you have attempted to place an order and experienced any difficulty, our
response will help you to continue the order.
FAQ:
COA Problems:
The Upgrade Redemption Center has been made aware of an issue affecting
Certificate Of Authenticity or (COA) numbers used when placing orders via the
Upgrade web site. We are now informed that this issue has been resolved.
Due to a high volume of contacts, we have been unable to respond timely to some
of you who contacted the Upgrade Redemption Center, and we apologize for the
delay.
The root cause of the COA issue for a majority of customers is a âlockingâ
mechanism designed to restrict duplicate use of COAs and is intended to protect
COA owners. In effect, if a customerâs order session timed out or a customer
navigated away from the web site, the COA would be locked and require a reset by
the Upgrade Redemption Center. Your COA will be reset within 24 hours of it
being locked. If your email relates to this issue, please allow 3 hours to pass
and then return to the web and place your order.

Also my subject was Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit CD/DVD Upgrade, so maybe they did look at it. Should I e-mail them back?
-
-
You don't know for sure. I would sent a certified envelope to a physical address (~2$) with a full copy of the proof of purchase, so there are no hassles. I have been burned by rebates (luckily not big ones) in the past, and you should make sure to cover all the bases. Certified mail means signature confirmed.
-
Um, you do know for sure. you can take your confirmation number to the site, type it in and you will see whats been validated and what your status is...
-
uh, a signed certified receipt only means that a letter was delivered and received. it does not give any proof that there was anything inside the envelope. so it's still your word against theirs.
-
So should I e-mail them again?
-
What does it say next to order status if you check? -
-
I don't know how everyone else is making out but trying to get this "upgrade" is one of the most frustrating things I've tried in a long time.
Initial order went though fine and shows COA validated - since then I have e-mailed copies of purchase receipt and registration of laptop with Acer on 2 seperate occaisons and have faxed copies as well but status hasn't changed to POP Validated.
I have also fated using e-mail address and received automated responses saying the e-mail would be dealt with within 2 business days and I would get a response - yeah sure !!! - a couple of weeks have passed since the first one and still NOTHING !!
I hope someone from Acer is monitoring this forum and can get some action started.
How is everyone else making out with their upgrade requests - maybe if enough of us complain something will get done. -
I have the same problem. Started with this update 2 weeks ago. I immediately transferred the money (not credit card, pay with bank) and i e-mailed my POP. But since then the status remains COA Approved. I e-mailed them for 5 times, but they never reply, not in English, not in French, not in Dutch. I'm sick of this update, I want my Vista, I payed for it, godd*****.
-
Yeah I'm going to send them the POP again.
-
It looks like we won't see our Vista DVD's until March.
http://global.acer.com/support/win_vista01.htm
At the very bottom it says:
The Acer Upgrade DVD for these models will come out in early March. At that time, Acer will post the updated BIOS, drivers, utilities and application programs for these models on the Acer Service Website and provide the DVD, upon request, to users who have registered for the Acer Express Upgrade to Windows Vista™ promotional program. -
As I read that paragraph (attached below) that refers only to the specific models mentioned - the rest should be shipping now.
-
So far I have sent proof of purchase twice by e-mail and faxed once and order still only shows COA verified.
This is frustrating -if Acer can't get their act together at least post a notice on the site saying how long after you send documentation before POP verified will show on your order. -
Received an e-mail from them today acknowledging the POP documentation and advising:

It's been 3 weeks now, still no status change. Mailed my POP twice. Transferred the money 2,5 weeks ago. Where is my vista
-
I still haven't got an answer so sent an e-mail to ACER complaining as an ACER customer about the service from ModusLink - got a reply back fro Acer saying ModusLink is handling upgrade for them and to contact ModusLink .....
Looks like loop to me so I have written ACER again and also ModusLink - just a response of some sort would be nice. -
had an email today from moduslink saying
Thank you for submitting your Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit CD/DVD OEM. Your validation is now complete and we will be processing your order. You should receive your order within 4-6 weeks and receive email confirmation when your order is shipped.
yeee
it also now says on my order
Order Status : POP/COA validated -
Im not getting anywhere fast with my order either. What really sucks is that im moveing in about 4 weeks. Pretty sure im gonna get screwed.
-
-
I sent my POP in 3 seperate time starting Jan.20th and today got this e-mail:
Finally - I had almost given up hope.. -
I emailed them today asking when its going to ship. They tell me they never got my POP. Funny thing is I replied to the email they sent me that said "thanks for sending in your POP... blah blah blah" LOL
These guys are lost. Must be outsourced to inda like everything else. -
Between Dec `06 and yesturday, i have emailed 7 copies of my POP to Moduslink and each time asking them to confirm they had received it. I never got any replies and my status was still only showing `COA validated`.
I also emailed Microsoft who replied the next day. They told me they were aware of a problem with moduslink and recommended giving moduslink a call if they were not replying to emails.
I have just rang them - only waited 10 mins before i spoke to an advisor. Gave them my order number and then told they HAD received all my POPs and my order was going through. Orders placed Dec/Jan have been passed on to microsoft who will ship out the upgrades early march.
As for my order status, i was told that their systems are abit behind and details showing may be incorrect. So i`d advise anyone checking orders on the redemption site - it may be best to phone to check the order. -
Oh wow, as of last night I got an e-mail saying they got my POP and eveything is good to go! Talk about keeping people on the edge of their seats...
-
I got that email too, the DVD should be here "shortly" : 4 to 6 weeks -_-~
-
sent mine in 3 times jan 30, feb 22, march 1(today) i get the 'we reveived POP' but then never hear back form them again.
i am convinced i will not get itwhaaaa!
-
I guess you won't need one now^^, you can try the OEM certificates file

My Order Status is now showing : order is approved.
I`m finding it hard to contain my excitement !! -
Yeah thats what I thought, no way to contact them in North America. -
just had an email saying my order has been shipped! yeeeee

[edit] please delete

For those of you who have received an e-mail confirming that the upgrade has been shipped, how long was it after you received the first e-mail that your order was validated and the discs are to be shipped in 4-6 weeks?
What country are you in? I'm in Canada and wonder if this shipping delay is different depending on what country you're in.
What I don't understand is that there are so many copies of Vista on the shelves and they have trouble keeping up with the upgrade demand. I guess MS is reserving their initial copies for full paying customers and keeping the "free upgraders" on the backburner! -
I applied for my redemption on the 14th December and paid on the 15th December after over 30 e-mails I finally got my e-mail saying my item had been posted on 13/03/07
Every time I phoned up I got through to the french centre and e-mails took on average 4 days -
Smithfan .... if you are in US you can always call the UK number mentioned above as you get through to a US call center anyway.
I am from the UK and purchased an Acer 5685 (from Comet UK) on the 6th March and I have just received my "shipping email".
Seems to have gone relatively smoothly.... If you are worried just phone a quote order no. and ask them to confirm they have received email/fax/letter of your Proof of Purchase.
Jules -
email them, they will give the north american number, thats what i did... but I gave up, I don't think I will get the upgrade...
-
It`s coming !!
My order status has changed to :
Order Number : #######
Order Status : Order is shipped
Shipping Date : Tuesday, March 20, 2007
Carrier : SPRING
AWB# : Unknown
And i have received this email :
Thank you for submitting your order for Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit CD/DVD OEM.
Your order has been shipped. You should receive your order within 3 weeks. If you do not receive your order, please contact us via email [email protected] by May 1, 2007, for English language versions of the product and June 1, 2007, for non-English language versions of the product so that we may research your request and ship your order.
I have a couple of questions,
1. It says the carrier is `spring`, who is spring ? Never heard of them in the UK.
2. I did not get a tracking number in my email, how do i know when its coming ?
I suppose at least its on its way - i hope !! -
Also wanting to know this. -

I am not 100% sure this is the carrier. If it is, the UK operations for `spring` is TNT according to thier web-site. -

Has anyone tried the Express Upgrade? I installed Vista from the upgrade DVD, the good thing was that all drivers were supplied, however it was extremely laggy. Even just reading a DVD took forever (the DVD being the Acer Driver disc that came with the package) and moving the cursor across the screen seemed to be really slow.
Have since gone back to good ol' Windows XP MCE. -
Has anyone in the UK recieved their upgrade yet? According to the site, mine was shipped on the 18th of march. Nothing yet!
-
-
It`s arrived
10.30 am my vista upgrade came.
I was very supprised that it DID NOT come by a courier, It came with the normal post delivered by the postman. -
Mine has come today also 10:50
Problem is I am running vista ultimate on my laptop now any way. Will this disk still work? -
That is my opinion. -
Mine was supposed to have been shipped on 17th March but hasn't come yet and now the website seems to have gone as I am getting an error message "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)" for http://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/vista/Acer
How do I know if moduslink has recieved my e-mail of my proof of purchase for me to get Vista?
