Last time I tried, I got to a part where it wouldn't let me install the new graphics driver because it kept saying some other installation was taking place. I got worried that my laptop would stay like this forever, but I eventually got the new driver. Is this how you guys installed it:
1. Install current driver
2. Install a Standard VGA driver
3. Install the new driver over your VGA driver.
It wouldn't let me install the new one when it didn't have one at all. Right now, my laptop is essentially broken(won't get to the desktop, and I Can't recover it). I'm giving it to BestBuy to fix(warranty), but I really want to go back to old drivers. I don't want to tell them to change the drivers because then they'll say that the modded driver caused the problem. But will they use their own back up/recovery DVD on my Acer laptop to renew all my drivers automatically?

I just install the new driver, and never had any problems. Don't know why you should follow all those steps...

I did what Incursis did, worked fine.

Let windows install it? I had to manually install one over it for some reason.
Well I just remembered that the Acer guy gave me a # for the case and I typed it on the computer but now it's gone so lol I'll have to recall them if I do decide to give it back to them. For Acer, it takes 10 business days and I have to send it to Texas. BestBuy is local and they are a certified Acer dealer/repairer. The Acer guy told me that since I'm under the Acer 1 year warranty, Best Buy has to fix my laptop for free(since that's what Acer would do and BestBuy is Acer certified). Also, I have connections with someone in the Geek Squad so he might be able to get my laptop fixed even earlier.
I Will download the standard driver ASAP and will never go back again. The new driver actually didn't let me play my HD-DVD, which forced me to download(and I installed almost 5 times) some new component which never fixed it and I couldn't play "300" on HD-DVD. Though one time I did manage to play it but I didn't have time to watch it(worked a while just trying to play it) and before that I managed to get "We Were Soldiers" to play. -
Did you use a laptop2go driver or the Toshiba driver I posted in the other thread? I understand the laptop2go drivers are not appropriate for HD-DVD playing, i.e., they are modded mainly for gaming.
Have you tried uninstalling the current driver on the system, restarting, allowing Windows to intall the basic VGA driver, then installing the Toshiba driver on top of it?
How do you change the Graphics Driver safely?
