How do you upgrade the RAM on an Aspire AS5733-6650?

I bought an Aspire AS5733-6650 knowing that it came with 2GB of RAM and planning to upgrade to 8GB, which is what both of the reviewers did. The official specifications confirm the reviewers' successfully upgrading to 8GB of RAM: Up to 4 GB of DDR3 system memory, upgradable to 8 GB using two soDIMM modules.

But I'm not sure how to proceed with the upgrade. Acer's Support page doesn't offer anything but a generic user guide. When I went to the relevant page in the guide, I saw that the diagram of the laptop's underside looked NOTHING like mine.

I'm just not sure exactly which screws to let loose. It seems like different models have different procedures. I've seen some videos on Youtube that appear to unscrew everything, while other guides online show very modular designs.

Any advice? I'm sorry that I don't have a digital camera to show you what it looks like.

I think mine looks almost exactly like the first one. (Thanks!)

Before making the thread, I unscrewed the two that seemed to hold it in place, but then I noticed that it was on pretty tight. I didn't want to "force" it open if I wasn't sure those were the right screws to loosen.

You have to remove the battery first, then use the right size screw driver and remove the screws.
the cover may be tight but there's a small gap on the cover just above the screw, insert finger nails and pull up carefully without breaking the tabs holding the cover in place.
Once you open the cover, release the RAM sticks by unhooking two clips and remove the sticks. Make yourself grounded, use an anti-static wristband and hold the RAM sticks by the edges.

I appreciate your instructions, ellahan; they're exactly what I was looking for.

Do you have any tips on how to open that cover? It's really tight to the point where my nails hurt trying to pry it.

No problem, you have to be patient and remove them very carefully, a small flat screw driver might help, insert the flat headed screw driver in to the gap and pierce without damaging the cover. A guitar pick might be better.
