When I purchased this 4810T, the box was taped twice (with acer tape) on the outside because the tape underneath had been cut already. Also a second green "check contents if broken or if VOID appears" seal was placed over existing green seals that had already been cut once (seen in several places while opening the box). I wonder if this was a refurbished model because it has scratches around one of the USB ports too. Does Acer image its laptops via USB from the factory or the refurbishing center?

Anyone else with an Acer have double taped seals?

This 4810T is a nice value, and lightweight, but I hope it is not pre-used and refurbished because I paid the price for a new one.

Hi, from whom did you source the laptop from? Personally I'd take it up with them...

Sounds suspicious to me. Agree with chrisscatt, ask questions.
Did you buy it from a retail high street store or online etc. You can always tell brand new stuff, it's sealed and packaged perfectly, each item in the box is sealed too, batteries, mains leads etc. Protective sheet between the screen and keyboard ?
I'm sure the USB ports would not be used for any refurb recovery for several reasons... to time consuming, requires a working OS in the first place etc etc. Much more likely they would replace the HDD with a preinstalled OS already imaged onto it.
Do any screws look like they have been tampered with (paint missing)... and if you feel like trying to loosen say the screws on the HDD cover they should be tight with thread lock on them.
