I pretty much had my mind set on a hp or a toshiba, until i came across the acer aspire 2020. It really caught my eye but its a 2 hundred over my budget. I was wondering what you guys can tell me about them.
    Thank You

Well, the Acer's are a well built system. I don't think they're better that HP, but close. If the unit is too expensive, you may want to look at the Aspire 2012WLMi. This is pretty much identical to the 2020, but it doesn't have a Dothan CPU, only 64MB for video and doesn't have an aluminum outer shell. But it's going for $1300 (Newegg.com), which I think is a pretty darn good deal. But generally, users who bought the Acer notebooks seem to like the brand/service/support. A user on this site who had some issues with a specific model, that couldn't be resolved, was given a new 2012WLMi as a replacement to resolve his issue. The problem was fixed, the customer happy, mainly because the problem was resolved, but also because his replacement was a better/more expensive notebook and it didn't cost him an extra penny for the upgrade. So it looks like Acer is willing to go that extra mile to keep their customers happy.

Acer is a very good company that's just not well known in the states. I'd feel good about buying their products.

Seems though that Acer's tech support is not good at all (but this is common I guess). They "help" only with casual recommendations, and tend to ignore half of your emails.

    Hi,
I am looking to buy a new laptop and I saw this special deal on www.cdw.com for acer laptops. I just wanted to ask you guys what you think about your acer laptops.

Would you rather have bought a laptop from toshiba, hp, or any other company?

What are the pros and cons of Acer?

Thanks a lot for your help.
