    Hey everyone:

I'm just trying to get an idea if my 5672 is running at normal temperatures. My fan comes on very infrequently which is giving me cause for concern. Every once in a while it gives an almighty blast for about 30 seconds but that doesn't seem to be related to temperature at all since it happens when I first boot into Windows and the machine is still cool. I am using the Coolermaster Notepal but I don't think it's making a huge difference.

    CPU average temp: 51 Celsius

    CPU highest temp: 71 Celsius

    HDD average temp: 44 Celsius

    HDD highest temp:
    49 Celsius

    Temperatures as reported by NHC.

I'm not worried about the CPU temperatures. I know that both average and highest are fine. It's the hard drive that's making me worried. I'm backing up fairly frequently so that I don't lose anything in case it decides to pack it in.

Thanks for reading this post and letting me know about your experience.

i don't know other 5672 temps, but i can give you a suggestion if you are unsatisfied with conventional laptop coolers. Here is a custom cooler using a normal case fan to bow air through the bottom vents of his laptop. I plan on making something similar except building one of these into the back instead. If you have the time, it's a fun project; and more useful since most laptop coolers pull air from the bottom, which is the opposite from what the internal fans are trying to do.

but after my 5672 gets shipped mon. i will tell you my temps.

Thanks for the link Vorin. Very interesting. That guy is seeing much more significant results than I am. I look forward to hearing what your temps are.

Anyone else with a 5672 want to share?

BTW I have a friend with a Macbook who regularly sees his processor temp climb into the high 80s but his HDD stays in the mid-30s!

So...no one else knows what the temperatures are for their 5672? ;)

    Hell yes! :D

    HDD Temp: 44
    CPU Temp: 58

Not surprising, because I just did some intensive stuff on my notebook. Usually it's 41 and 44, if I'm just browsing the net.

Here's a DIY Laptop Cooler. It can be made to look cool, if you have teh skillz.

Interesting temperatures .zoXan. - HDD is the same but your CPU is significantly cooler. Does your fan run often? What BIOS are you using? I'm currently on 3219. Like I wrote previously, I'm not too concerned about the CPU temp because it's well-within spec and rock solid all the time.

Thank you zoxan for a much better (less ghetto) self-done laptop cooler. I'm in the process of reversing the polarities in my bought laptop cooler (the shorting of the diode is giving me some problems tho) so that the fans push air up.

ill post a full tutorial later maybe.

No real averages but right now cpu is 36°C and HDD 38°C (just doing some webbrowsing on battery).
Earlier today during virusscan and plugged in: cpu 51°C and HDD 49°C.

I've seen the cpu fluctuate between 28°C and the high fifties.
HDD is always something between high thirties and high forties. Often the HDD is hotter than the cpu, but then again I often work with very big photoshop files so loading and saving those does keep the HDD busy.
As far as I can tell the fan is almost continuously on while the computer is plugged in, also on battery it goes on quite often. But I don't mind since it is pretty quiet and in my experience almost unnoticable if there's a little bit of background noise.

My HDD is at 40*C and pretty constant while the CPU seemes to fluctuate b/w 56*C and 59*C.

I am not sure if that is within a normal range or not. How hot should they get?

I have the 5672 with 2GB of RAM and the 120GB HDD. Temps aren't even a consideration as I use the LapCool4 USB hub/cooler. Though I use a Logitech V270 BT mouse, my touchpad barely gets warm. The twin fans are speed adjustable and the aluminum plate draws the heat off the 5672 nicely.

    Hey Talon_Sr:

Your cooler sounds effective. What sort of temperatures are you seeing at the moment?

My Cooler Master Notepal is aluminium too but I'm not seeing a difference between using it or not. Of course, my fans are pretty low RPM and non-adjustable. :(

Watchman: your CPU temperatures are certainly within a very respectable range if Core Duos in Macbooks are hovering between the mid-60s and the low-80s. I have seen mention of the Core Duo handling anything up to 100 degrees Celsius.

I most concerned about HDD temperatures since they tend to be more likely to fail at continuously high temperatures.

Don't know. I wouldn't even know what to check it with. I used to run MBM on my destop years ago when I cared about such things as numbers and benchmarks.
