    I haven't really heard much about Acer. How is their reputation and customer service, and how reliable are their laptops?

    They're one of, if not the largest, notebook seller in the world. I think they're quite strong, no reason to avoid them at all.

    Thanks for the article. How does Acer rank compared to other manufacturers though? I thought Dell and Toshiba were either 1 or 2, but that's all I know.

    Do you mean by sales or quality?
    I'd put both Dell and Toshiba below Acer in terms of quality - both of those have gotten cheap lately - cutting lots of corners.

    In sales, well, Acer hopes to be the #3 manufacturer in the world by 2006...right now I believe that Dell is #1. HP/Compaq is number 2, and currently Gateway is third.
