I'm very intrigued by this CULV "netbook", and would like something to hold me over for awhile since I just sold my notebook. How is the screen quality? I see the spec's list it as LED backlit. Any thoughts? :)

I can tell you in seeing one that it doesn't hold a candle to my Vaio TZ's screen, but not surprising at all since it is a fraction of the cost I paid for mine. Both have LED screens but the Vaio's absolutely outclasses it. I would rate it as an average screen at best, but you cannot complain too much for the price you pay vs. a "premium" ultraportable like a Vaio TZ/TT. If these were out when I bought my Vaio TZ, I would have certainly chose these instead and these are still some of my favorite notebooks for their price and what they offer.

If you had told me back in 2007 that I could purchase an ultraportable like this for $400, I would have called you a liar. :)

I am very pleased by the screen quality. Is very bright and sharp. Playing HD movies on it, is a charm.

I am very happy with the display quality on mine - you can't expect fabulous display quality on a $429 system. That said, I cannot criticize anything abot the display. The only display-related criticism I can make is the webcam is of marginal quality at best. Not related, but, my 1410 is an order of magnitude more solidly built than my H-P Mini 311 - and (except for graphics) the SU2300 allows it to run circles around the Atom N280 on the 311.

Thanks for the quick reply. :) Do you know, how it compares to an EEE's screen? I've seen one of those in person, it was an LED screen also, and the quality was very good IMHO.

    Edit:

Thanks. Good to know. I may just pick one up. :)
Thank you very much. :) I'm actually looking at the su2300 version, I've been reading a lot about it.

To be fair Acer Computers usually comes with varying display.
There are Display from AUO, LG, Samsung, Chi Mei (I think)
Depends on which one you got.
So far I am lucky to have encountered on LG and Samsung LCD units.
