Mine died after being on for 2 hours. -_-

THis is a good question - I don't think there is one answer. I dont know what "sapling" said - notebooks are supposed to last thousands of hours.
I think it depends on the climate you live in, how good of a build your notebook is, and if the A/c adaptor can take a lot of surges/etc -

I leave mine all the time. I suspend when transporting the laptop. Otherwise, it comes on as soon as I get home and it only gets suspended when I'm leaving and taking the laptop with me.

I keep my Aspire 5672WLMi on 24/7. Reboot once a week. Been running since May, no problems.

Same. I run 24/7 with reboots every few days.

I've got an Aspire 1692 and when I get up at 7 am I start the computer and don't shut down until I go to sleep at 11.30 or 12 pm. Every day surfing the web or watching films or downloading, etc...
-
I usually suspend/hibernate my stuff when i'm not using it--saves energy and money
, but my friend never turns his systems off and they never burnt up or exploded a la Dell...

what if i leave it turned on but with the epower i lower the cpu speed to low will it cause any damage?i leave it to low cause first i dont use anything just have utorrent and kaspersky and two if i lower the cpu speed it suppose to ve less hotter right?
-
It shouldn't cause any trouble, AFAIK - just might cause it to recover a bit slower.
As for the heat - it's not just the CPU that causes the heat; other processes like spinning hard drive also cause heat. So I don't know how noticeable the heat reduction will be. -
If you leave the computer at the lowest frecuency of the procesor and put the frecuency of the graphic card on lower ( like if you were working with battery) you will notice that fan didn't come.
This is for leaving the computer open downloading or doing things that don't require a lot of power. You can also install some hardware that controls yours cpu voltage or temperature ( like Notebook hardware control) -
well you can leave it on til it dies, burns or shuts down. Laptops werent meant to be left on, But with new larger desktop replacements it can be done. Now if you plan on leaving it on make sure it is in a cool room and not a oven and using a coolerpad with fans helps ALOT. Make sure that the screen turns off during idle instead of a screen saver and make sure the hard drive shuts off too. That will allow you to use the pc as a desktop. Or you could just hibernate it everytime you walk away and it boots to windows pretty quick depending on your hardware.

yeah thats what i do use too the turn off monitor in 1 minute and as you said liquidxit2 if i use the turn off hard disk and i am downloading something then that archive will be copying in the hard disk eveen if that one is turned off,or the archive will stop copying in the hard disk?thats what is was thinking too to turn off the hard disk but then i taught that if i turn tha hard disk then it wont receive tha download cause its turned off but i dont know probably it continues writing the info in the disk.

I have the same exact notebook, and i'm having the same problem. I just recieved it 3 days ago and have been playing Warcraft 3 and CS:S on it with the settings set up mid-high. it starts to overheat, everything slows down, and the graphics start glitching after 2 hours of gameplay. Is that normal for the notebook to do that?
its in my room on my desk, power plugged into the wall. help anyone? -
well if there is activity the the lappy will turn back on, it only shuts the hdd down so it isnt spinning for no reason. SO if somthing ques you should be fine.
Make sure to use it in a well ventilated room, and if it is on for a long period of time I dont blame the laptop for slowing down. Get yourself a nice cooler pad and take the battery out if you plan to keep the thing running for a while.
How long can I leave the laptop on?
