Just bought an Acer Apire, as you all probably already know. Just have a question: Is there such thing as no light leakage in a laptop? How much is too much? What is considered "good".

It doesn't seem like mine has too much...you can see a difference though. Ie: the windows XP bar at the very top is bright blue and the one at the bottom is more washed out.

You should look at a completely black display to get a good feeling for it. A little is to be expected, if it bothers you, then send it back. It's totally personal preference though. If you don't notice is day-to-day I'd just deal with it.

Yes, as Brian said, look at one color, preferably black, and see how much the color "changes" on the screen. Is it lighter/darker in some areas? Are there certain parts of the screen that are noticably different? That's how you tell. If it's really noticable, then return it. But, it depends on personal preference too - people are different.

Ok thanks. Yeah, on a black screen there's not too much difference...just a tad greyer down at the bottom. Something I've noticed with this screen though is that it looks a little duller than my desktop when I'm sitting at a normal distance. When I'm sitting back further, everything is more vibrant. I also have to tilt the LCD back further to get more vivid colours. Is this considered "normal", or a sign of a bad screen?

That's the 'Sweet Spot' of the LCD I would say.

Yea, LCD's tend to look best when viewed at a certain "angle".
