I have an Aspire 5920G Laptop. Im a bit bugged by having a wide screen but a not so fine resolution. with a screen of 15.4" the resolution 1280x800 is not that perfect yet.

Is there a way to increase the screen resolution higher than these?

Thanks you once again guys :)

If you're running your notebook's latest video drivers and 1280x800 is as high as the resolution slider will go, that's where you're stuck. From what I can see online, 1280x800 is the LCD's native resolution. On most notebooks, you can go lower than the native resolution, but you can't go higher than the native resolution no matter what you try.

The only time I've seen an LCD display at a higher resolution was when I hooked my 1420x1154 (or some odd resolution like that) Winbook up to a 1024x768 LCD and set it to clone mode. The external LCD displayed a 1024x768 window, and the mouse could move the edges around to see the whole screen. I'm assuming that's probably not something you'd want happening on your screen :).

I guess its the native resolution :( its the cons of 5920G, a big screen with a low resolution :(

Indeed, it's not possible to get a higher resolution then the native resolution on an LCD display. Learn to live with it, I would say :)

What if acer were to ever release a model of the same laptop with a higher resolution screen, if we were to source those screens they used would we be able to swap them? i know you can do this with the Dell ones.

I think you can. Not sure though. But if you can, it will be a very expensive swap, and pretty hard to do.

Echoing baia here: if the same model has a better LCD available, you can certainly buy it...for anywhere from $400 - $600, and then the LCD disassembly and reinstallation is one of the trickiest things to work on in a notebook because the screens (and their wiring) are so easy to damage. If Acer does make a higher resolution screen available, make sure you've studied your disassembly guide in detail (and have it sitting in front of you) before you start disassembling your LCD, if you do go that route.

I've done several Dells before, it wasnt hard at all to be honest. Hopefully they might bring a higher resolution screen out, but im starting to get used to the screen size now, and that was going from a much higher resolution screen.
