    This is a guide completely disable the awful BEEP sound when you connect/disconnect your AC power on any ACER ASPIRE 5740

    Instructions:
    1. Uninstall your REALTEK HD AUDIO DRIVERS.
    2. Reboot.
    3. Let Windows install generic HD audio drivers.

    (Successfully Tested with:
    Acer Aspire 5740-6378
    * Intel Core i5 Dual Core Processor (2.26Ghz w/ hyperthreading, turboboost)
    * 4GB DDR3 RAM
    * Intel GMA HD (128MB DEDICATED 1626MB SHARED)
    * 320GB 5400RPM HDD
    * Windows 7 Home Premium x64
    )

    For anyone else reading this, by doing this you're losing support for the internal Tuba sound booster if you have one (the 69xx/89xx models in particular). The Tuba needs the Realtek drivers in order to work.
    Decent advice for anyone else who doesn't, though.

    And jbud, your system has a GMA HD, not GMA 4500MHD. The former is on the same chip as your Core i5 CPU, the latter is integrated into the northbridge of Core 2 chipsets.

    I cannot even tell you how grateful I am to have killed that horrible noise. I was just beginning to despair. Now I am happy with my nice new toy once again.

    (I had to actually delete the Realtek drivers, not just uninstall them, else Windows automatically reinstalled them and the beep didn't go away. This may be just my machine (Aspire Timeline 4810TZ-4474, Windows 7) or it may just be that it's obvious to everyone except me. Just posting this in case someone else finds it to whom it's also not obvious.)

    In short: this method ISN'T FULLY WORKING!!!

    If you remove the Realtek drivers, the beep is gone, BUT you can't use the microphone!!! The voice recording quality will be crappy because the lack of noise-cancelling. So it's your choice: beep, or microphone background noise :(

    Just had to chime in with a HUGE thank you. This beep has been annoying me since I got my Acer Aspire a few months ago -- especially since the power cord sits in the socket pretty loosely. The slightest bump caused the power cord to disconnect and the beep was so loud.

    For the record, I have an Aspire 5740-6025. I used the method of disabling the Realtek drivers and letting Windows reinstall generic ones.
