i am able to hear only thro headphones and not to internal speakers....

i almost tried all possible ways but in vain...

can anyone help me out to rectify this error.....

i have optical on my laptop aspire and it only comes on when i push the mini jack(optical) in.
in the realtek control panel you have a Audio I/O tab.
then you will see the Digital section open or click on the small spanner button.
now check the no S/PIDF .
Edit:are you sure the jack is not damaged ?
    hope that helps,
    Phil :D
